Because of time constraints, this is the first time that I've been able to properly rant about this subject without being interrupted by any neccesities.
Of course, that almost means that I'm doing it at 6am, but what can ya do? Speaking of what can you do... this bill... my first reaction was "What?
Wait, What?" (If anything has changed in the past few weeks dealing with this, than this rant is slightly outdated, but whatever)
Seriously? Seriously? In a world where there are unsolved murders, orphans, violence and gangs. In a world where people are dying and crying and wishing that life could be better. In a world where there are homeless on the street and it is commonplace to hear gunshots outside my window at night. In a world where I have known murder victims or their families. In a world of hatred, of scorn, of rape, of robbery, of terror and of fear... this world exists. It exists when you stare in the mirror or out the window. It exists when you drive down the lane or cross the street. Walking down the sidewalk to the corner store, saying Hello to a friend as you pass by, while you study for your final exams... at all of these times, a world of hatred and death exists out there.
And instead of trying to figure out ways to stop it, instead of trying to back up the police force or something, they spend over 60 million dollars on an anti-homosexuality bill.
Seriously?
What is the obsession with the homosexuals? I'm honestly confused by this. Polite conversation doesn't really cover "Who are you banging?" or anything of that nature... so why do people care so much who other people are having sex with? Is it because of some religious moral? Is it because of some nosy genetic experiment gone wrong in this nation? Is it because of... I don't know... the extra estrogen in the water? I mean, seriously, what the hell is going on in this country.

I think we're lying to ourselves, myself included. I didn't think ti would get to this point - I honestly didn't. I didn't believe that people would be idiotic enough to pass this bill. I didn't think people would be idiotic enough to propose it. But alas, my faith in humanity seems to have been misplaced. They did propose this bill... this anti-gay sentiment and they did manage to pass it... what happens now?

Do we continue on with our lives, not paying attention to the cloth we've pulled over our eyes. Familiarity is sacred and we revel in it. As long as it doesn't affect us personally, we can't care... is that it these days? Is that's what's happening? If that's what this is... then we deserve it. For not standing up, for not speaking up, for not shouting or heckling or knowing. We deserve to have our rights - human rights taken from us. It's gotten to the point where I am expecting them to start repealing the Bill of Rights. I have no faith in this country anymore. What is left here? It's getting to a point where life here is watching them subtly steal from us. Oh, they are sneaky about it - and they are good. And who can stop them? I don't see any superheroes in the world... not anymore at least.
Denying our right to marriage? The inequality is disgusting.
